Adriano Bernobić completed his primary and secondary music education in Pula, focusing primarily on classical percussion, performing with brass bands, as well as the Wind Orchestra and the Salon Orchestra of the City of Pula. His early exposure to jazz music showed a strong connection, and Adriano decided to become a jazz drummer. In preparation for the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz (Austria), Adriano played in numerous small jazz ensembles and the Pula Big Band.
During his studies in Graz, he had the privilege of collaborating with the following professors: Wolfgang Tozzi, Christian Salfelner, and most importantly, Howard Curtis. After graduating, Adriano chose to pursue a master’s degree in Graz and spent a year in Paris as part of an Erasmus student exchange program. Upon completing his master’s in 2012, he moved to Zagreb.
Today, he frequently collaborates with the Jazz Orchestra of Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), as well as numerous Croatian and international jazz musicians. He recently worked with Tamara Obrovac, Matija Dedić, Deborah J. Carter, Satoshi Inoue, and others. He performed at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas, in 2013, and is the recipient of the prestigious Croatian Musicians’ Union “Status 2013” award in the category of Best Jazz Drummer in Croatia. He is currently actively performing and participating in several musical projects.
