At the age of 12, Luka Ivir enrolled in percussion at the Ferdo Livadić Music School in Samobor, studying under the mentorship of Professor Goran Gorše. As a soloist in the “percussion” discipline, he has won numerous national and international awards. In the “chamber music” category (mentor: Professor Goran Gorše), he won first prizes at national and international competitions as a duo with percussionist Franko Štrbac. In July 2022, he performed as a soloist with the Zagreb Philharmonic in the final of the international percussion competition Rhythm-o-phonia and won third place.
He regularly participates in international seminars such as the “Ivana Bilić Marimba Week” (IBMW), the “International Percussion Ensemble Week” (IPEW), and the “Kaštela Summer School.” Since 2016, he has been a member of the Sudar Percussion ensemble, regularly performing as a marimbist. In 2021, he recorded a CD with the ensemble for the Folk & Roll project in collaboration with the vocal ensemble Singrlice, for which they won the Porin discography award. He has also recorded a CD with the Zagreb Philharmonic and participated in several projects as a guest member of the orchestra.
Luka has studied with many distinguished professors, including Katarzyna Myćka, Casey Cangelosi, Nebojša Jovan Živković, Vassilena Serafimova, Christos Rafalides, and others. In 2018, he began his studies in percussion at the Music Academy in Zagreb in the class of Professor Ivana Bilić. He is currently working as a percussion teacher at the Ferdo Livadić Music School in Samobor.
